CODE OF CONDUCT
Everything we wear has an impact on people and the planet, we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment and empowering the communities where we work.
At Bask we offer an alternative solution to be able to dress according to our values. We go far beyond simple clothing. Our clothes and the people who make them are treated with respect and, in turn, respect the environment that surrounds them.
FOR THE PEOPLE
"Proudly made in the Basque Country"
We know that the most sustainable thing is to produce locally, creating decent jobs in our environment and thus minimizing the CO2 footprint. It is also much easier to control the production chain and for the human rights of women workers to be respected throughout this process.
The Made in Basque Country garments are made in Hazlan, a workshop in Irun, Gipuzkoa. The supplier of the recycled fabrics is Matex05, which is located in Barcelona.
"Proudly made in Bangladesh"
We thought the only way for Bask to have responsible production was to do it locally. After our trip to Asia to film a documentary on how the fashion industry affects people and the planet, we understood that as a brand we have the power to change the social and environmental reality found in countries like Bangladesh. Without leaving the local idea aside, we want to demonstrate that there are other ways of producing there and using Bask as a tool for social transformation in Bangladesh.
We are convinced that manufacturing in Bangladesh is a good thing if done correctly. This means respecting the rights of the people we employ, it means giving them the means to acquire new skills and receive education and training to lead a decent life.
We collaborate with Stanley / Stella who produce in Dhaka, a team of 19 people, all Bangladeshi, monitor the 5 partner factories every day. All of them are GOTS certified and audited by the Fair Wear Foundation, of which Stanley / Stella is a recognized member.
FOR THE PLANET
We believe that the environmental crisis has reached a critical point. Without compromises to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, defend clean water and air, and get rid of dirty technologies, humanity as a whole will destroy our planet's ability to repair itself. At Bask, the protection and preservation of the environment are one of the main reasons why we are in this project.
"Sustainability starts with transparency."
"In a transparent world, internal culture is the true brand."
If we want to be part of a fair fashion we have to take our first step towards a different culture in terms of transparency by answering the questions that arise in this revolution in the fashion industry. Who made my clothes? #WhoMadeMyClothes?
Transparency not only implies showing everything that happens within Bask, it makes us create spaces that foster a sense of culture and community. It is important that the brand, as a glass box, reflects our culture and values, only in this way, we open the doors to the interior of Bask to generate trust and deep emotional connection with the Bask community.
From publishing our quarterly accounts, to product costs and traceability in our value chain, reporting on the work and names of our vendors, we reveal the true costs behind all of our products, from materials to labor and transportation , and then we offer it to you, minus the traditional commercial margin.
